Service Description

The Swedish node is a collaboration between Karolinska Institutet, SciLifeLab and RISE. Together, we offer world-leading services with our unique collection of core facilities. We can grant services in expert consulting, virtual- and physical testing in the range of in vivo imaging, ex vivo OMICS, pharmaceutical development, simulated healthcare environments, AI-system validation and development, advanced data analysis and other data-driven life science.

Prospective data set collection: A full-service collection of new data sets. This service serves to create data sets on-demand according to the needs and requirements of the SME for TEF-project purposes, such as validation. Data sets will primarily comprise in vivo imaging data (PET, CT, MRI, MEG, EEG), ex vivo imaging, and OMICS data within neuro and cancer. Data can be generated by CIR and SciLifeLab infrastructures within our “Physical Testing” services or assembled from publicly available databases and research collaborations.

We provide expertise and technical support in the following areas: o Project design& management o Ethical application support o Data collection o Data assembly o Data cleaning, annotation, anonymisation

This service can typically directly collaborate with “physical testing services” and technology infrastructures to generate raw data material.

Prices are indicative only and can change depending upon clinical expertise requirements (and affiliation); this service can be subsidised up to 100%. Additional data storage and handling costs can be added separately according to project requirements and SME needs. The average personnel cost is 115 EUR per hour (depending upon affiliation, personnel costs can be up to 100% subsidised).

An example of a 150-hour project price (including consultancy with a clinical expert and scientist at infrastructure platform, project management, data collection, data assembly, and data cleaning processes). Data storage is not included in this price, nor are costs associated with infrastructure access and usage, part of our physical testing catalogue). Full price: 15 980 EUR, Reduced price: 2 780 EUR (subsidisation of 80%, based on case study).

It uses Finometer (FMS) and Nexfin (Edwards Lifesciences) devices, which are used for non-invasive beat-to-beat blood pressure monitoring using volume-clamp method, and MedGem (Microlife) for determination of basal metabolism. It uses ECG Cardiofax 9620M (Nihon Cohden) for monitoring the electrical activity of the heart, RespiTrace (NIMS) for non-invasive respiratory monitoring by impedance method using chest and abdominal belts, CardioScreen 2000 (Medis) for non-invasive monitoring of various parameters associated with pumping function of the heart (systolic volume, systolic time intervals, etc.). It uses VaSera VS-1500N (Fukuda Denshi) characterization of arterial stiffness, EndoPAT 2000 (Itamar Medical) - characterization of endothelial dysfunction, InBody J10 (Biospace) - analysis of body composition, ECG (BTL; Pola V8) - non-invasive continuous bio signals monitoring, Finometer (Finapres medical systems), blood pressure, Flex Comp Infinity, Thought Technology for measuring the electrodermal activity, respiration, peripheral temperature, Neuroptics PLR200, pupilometry, Eyetracking (Pupil Labs) for eye movements, InBody 120 - body composition analysis.

  • Brain Digital Twins for clinical and pharmacological applications

    (1) The laboratory provides microsatellite instability (MSI) in FFPE cancer tissue in low throughput screening methods, including PCR and fragment analysis. The service includes insight into technology, sample preparation, and partial or full bioinformatic data processing in GeneMapper v.6 software. (2) Next, the laboratory provides DNA methylation analysis in promoter regions of genes in low and medium throughput screening methods, including pyrosequencing and/or MS-MLPA and fragment analysis. The service includes insight into technology, sample preparation, and partial or full bioinformatic data processing in Cofalyser.net softvare. (3) The laboratory also provides comparative genomic hybridization (CGH), as well as single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) detection by microarray that enables identification of aneuploidies, microdeletions, microduplications, as well as other types of chromosomal aberrations across the genome. The service includes insight into technology, sample preparation, and partial or full bioinformatic data processing. (4) The laboratory provides detection of single nucleotide variation from various types of samples by real-time PCR or Sanger sequencing.
